Adding, changing and replacing debit cards for savings and investments
Opening An Account
The first step to using Pettysave is to set up an account by going to the website or mobile app and registering with your email, phone number and preferred password. After you have done this, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Click on the email verification link and you will be redirected to the on-boarding page. If you scroll down that page, you will see links to either resend the confirmation mail or change your email (in case you made a mistake while registering). Once you verify your email, your Pettysave account is ready to use.
Adding Your Card
To start using your Pettysave account for savings and/or investments, you need to add your debit card (s). Upon verifying your email, you will be required to add your card. Input your card details in the app and you will then be able to automate your savings and transfer funds for investments as well. Note that you can add more than one card to your Pettysave account but only one card can be linked to a savings plan per time. You can use the same card for multiple plans and you can also use a different card for each plan. It’s all up to you.
Note: Some debit cards are not valid for online transactions and thus may not be usable on Pettysave (for more information on such cards, you will need to contact your bank). Also, expired cards, cards blocked from the bank or cards linked to frozen accounts cannot be used for savings and investment (from the day the card or account expires, gets blocked or frozen).
Changing or Replacing Your Card
There are several reasons why you may want or need to change the card(s) linked to your Pettysave account. Here are a few:
1. Expired card
2. You no longer want to use the card(s) currently linked for reasons best known to you
3. The account linked to that card was frozen
4. You have blocked the card or the card has been blocked for one reason or the other
So, to add a new card, all you have to do is log in to your Pettysave account, navigate to ‘Cards and Banks’, click on ‘Add card’ and input the details of the new card you’d like to add. The card will be charged N50 which will then be moved to your Pettysave wallet and that’s it, you have added a new card.
Now, to change/replace the old card linked to any of your plans with the new card you just added, do the following:
1. Go to the plan
2. Click on edit
3. Select the new card you just added from the list of cards to choose from
4. If the card you want to use isn’t in the list of cards you’ve added to your Pettysave account, click on ‘Add new card’ and add it
5. Then, click on update
Once the plan has been updated, all debits for that plan will come from the new card moving forward. You can repeat the steps above for all the plans you would like to update and then delete the old card once it is no longer linked to any plan.
No Debit Card? Issues with your Card? Not to worry
You can link your Bank Verification Number (BVN) to your Pettysave account in order to generate a Pettysave account number. This account number will allow you to initiate cardless transfers for savings and investment, meaning that you can do bank deposits or transfers to the account number and it will automatically credit your Pettysave account. This feature is especially good because even if you do not have a debit card, if your debit card is not valid for online transactions or if you do not get One-time passwords (OTPs) on your phone or email for whatever reason, you can still save and invest on Pettysave conveniently.
